Northshore Park

AT LAKE WOODLANDS

On the banks of Lake Woodlands, Northshore Park is home to an array of fun things to do, with handy amenities that visitors and families in The Woodlands can enjoy.

With several events throughout the year, including weekly concerts in the spring and summer, this seven-acre park is one of the community’s favorite hang-out spots.

PARK AMENITIES

There is lots to do in Northshore Park. Take a stroll along the lake, which forms a section of the Lake Woodlands Trail. The 4.6-mile loop around Lake Woodlands follows a picturesque and carefully maintained path. See if you can catch a sunset over the lake.

Kids will love the play areas, or you can challenge friends and family to a game of beach volleyball, with two courts in the park. There are picnic tables and barbecue pits for social gatherings and parties, too.

WATER ACTIVITIES AND BOATING

One of the best things to do at Northshore Park is enjoy the water and explore the corners of Lake Woodlands. Owned by The Woodlands Rowing Club, there are public docks and a boat ramp at Northshore Park offering free launch facilities for boats, kayaks, and paddleboards. You can also pay to store your kayak at Northshore Park for a monthly fee. Whether you're on the water or on the shore, there's catch-and-release fishing to enjoy.

Nearby Northshore Park, you can rent paddleboards, kayaks and other floating equipment from Lake's Edge Boat House or Riva Row Boat House to explore Lake Woodlands. Please note that there are no gas-powered boats permitted on the lake.

SOUTHSHORE PARK

From Northshore, you can paddle to Southshore Park, which has a small island with a pavilion and a small floating dock. Take a short break for a lakeside lunch before paddling back north.

At Southshore Park, you will notice a 35-foot-long lake monster. No, it’s not Nessie, The Loch Ness Monster. The art installation is an eye-catching feature of Lake Woodlands. Made from steel, the lake serpent was unveiled in 1985, the same year that Lake Woodlands was officially opened. The piece is officially titled The Rise of Midgard Serpent, by Marc Rosenthal.
