It’s Summertime in The Woodlands! Don’t know where to start when it comes to looking for something fun to do? We are here to help! Our Summer bucket list includes the best ideas for getting out and exploring The Woodlands. From splash pads to sweet treats, make your summer shine with our must-try list!

Go for a ride on a kayak or swan boat. Stop by Riva Row Boat House to enjoy The Waterway and Lake Woodlands. You can rent single and tandem kayaks, paddle boards, and swan boats. Dog life jackets are also available so bring them along for the fun! Riva Row is a 1.6-acre park located at the juncture of the upper and lower levels of The Waterway near Town Green Park. Riva Row is open year-round with summer hours of 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is closed on Wednesdays.

Cool off at an area splash pad, a family favorite for a quick cool off during the hot summer months. The Woodlands is home to several splash pads and there are also 14 pools and aquatic facilities located throughout town. Eight of the pools have spray grounds built right into them. Check out our splash pad blog for our favorite places to enjoy a nice cooldown!

Let someone else take the wheel as you explore The Woodlands without worrying about driving. The vintage style Trolley makes stops through our main destinations. Hop on for a self-guided tour of The Woodlands commercial district or ride over to Hughes Landing for a stroll or to grab Happy Hour. For more information on the trolley including accessibility information read our trolley blog.

The water amenities at The Woodlands Resort win all of the cool points. That’s according to the kids who have dared to go for a ride! Parents, go ahead and relax on the Forest Oasis Lazy River. The resort also offers nighttime Movie Under The Stars, a world-class golf course and the ultimate pampering experience. Take relaxing to a new level this summer.

It’s a bucket list challenge like none other at Texas TreeVentures in The Woodlands! The outdoor climbing adventure park features a three-level aerial course and is located on the campus of The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park at 6464 Creekside Forest Drive. The course is built to the standards of the Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) specifications, among the most stringent ropes safety standards in the world. From pulling yourself in a kayak across the sky to balancing various obstacles, you can choose your own adventure and challenge yourself as you become more comfortable with the course.

Take a selfie at one of the many art benches or other outdoor art located around town. We recommend starting at Hughes Landing because it’s easy to spot the outdoor art sculptures! From there, you can walk to several other art installations. Since 2014, twenty Art Benches have been commissioned and installed on and near The Woodlands Waterway. The Art Bench Project is a program of The Woodlands Arts Council.

Interesting fact: People often report to Town Center Rangers that a woman left her purse in Waterway Square. But really, the discovery is actually a realistic sculpture called “Treasures from Grandma’s Purse.” It’s located in the one-acre public plaza with a unique water feature and green space. Wear your water-friendly clothes and go check out the sculpture and enjoy the water feature. This is also a great place to meet up for a run around The Waterway. Waterway Square is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Sure, you may have your favorite park, but why not try something new? Pack a picnic and head out to one of the many parks in The Woodlands. Parks like Bear Branch Park, Terramont Park, Creekwood Park, and Northshore Park feature well-accommodated picnic areas. All of these parks are well suited for an afternoon of enjoying the outdoors, providing amenities like covered gazebos and restrooms. From disk golf to skate parks and sand volleyball courts, each park offers the opportunity for you to enjoy various activities!

Nothing says summer like a big bowl of ice cream or something sweet. Stop by Sweet Frozen Bar at Hughes Landing and try out a new flavor of yogurt or gelato. They have everything from apple pie to Georgia Peach with 100+ flavors. Other sweet options include PopBar in Market Street or Cupcakes and Bubbles in Creekside Village Green, get an up-close look at Cupcakes and Bubbles and read the blog.
