It’s a memorable tradition that draws families from all over the area to The Woodlands. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion will be transformed into a giant playground for the 23rd Annual Children’s Festival presented by ExxonMobil. From live character shows to games, craft classes, science demonstrations and more – the weekend of November 10th and 11th will be packed with fun – and a lot of “Instagram worthy” moments you won’t want to miss.
1. Grab a picture with one of the guys from PJ Masks or the Sesame Street gang!
This year, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby and more of your favorite characters from Sesame Street are heading to The Pavilion Main Stage. Throughout the weekend, kids will have the opportunity to meet everyone’s favorite heroes from the hit Disney Junior show, PJ Masks, and other characters at various times each day in the Meet & Greet Tent in South Plaza.
2. Take a picture with the cutest animal you can find from the petting zoo area.
Take a walk along on the Texas Children’s Hospital Adventure Avenue for exciting outdoor activities including a petting zoo, rock climbing wall, bungee jumpers and inflatables.
3. Make and Fly a Kite!
Kids can build and fly their own kite at the Newfield Exploration Skyway located at the top of the Pavilion hall. There will also be a digging expedition and you can participate in parachute races with friends.
4. Show off the coolest hats around! The one you made!
Just around the corner from the Main Stage is Pepsi Play Place which will offer activities by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital and The Woodlands Children’s Museum. Kids and adults can take part in hat-making, and enjoy free balloons from Fidelity Investments and a watch a wide variety of performances on the Community Stage.
5. Nothing says “selfie” more than showing off your cool face paint creation!
Head over to Accenture STEAM Street (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) where kids can launch into space with Janet’s Planet, create their own snow with Nutty Scientists and enjoy a whole slew of other activities including face painting and an instrument petting zoo.
6. Pretend to be a legit race car driver.
Get up close and personal with ExxonMobil’s NASCAR racecar! One of the most popular attractions at the Children’s Festival is Truck Trail, which gives families a chance to see the inner-workings of trucks, tractors and automobiles. Children can touch, climb into and explore some AWESOME vehicles – including ExxonMobil’s NASCAR racecar.
7. Fun for the littles
Even the youngest festival goers will feel special at The Woodlands Methodist School’s Peekaboo Place, an area for kids four and under. This “festival-within-a-festival” will feature storytelling, musical performances, interactive theatre workshops, arts and crafts and a special toddler inflatable.
Pro Tip: Moms, take a break. This Comfort Lounge area is a quiet and comfortable place where you can feed your baby and relax. There are several private areas for nursing mothers.
Admission to the Children’s Festival is $10 per person and includes all performances and activities, purchase tickets here. Children two and under are free of charge. You can pay for preferred parking at the Town Center Garage or check out any of the five free parking lots on the southwest side of The Pavilion off of Timberloch Place. The free, color-coded lots are connected to The Pavilion by pathways with signs leading across The Waterway.
