Nick Wolda President
Nick began his career with The Woodlands Township in 1999. During his tenure, he worked on project teams which included the development of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, the expansion of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion to nearly 17,000 capacities; and the developments of Market Street, Town Green Park and Waterway Square.
Today, he oversees the implement of The Woodlands Township community relations strategies and Visit The Woodlands marketing programs, including public relations and advertising. He oversees the marketing and promotion of special events and festivals, including the Red, Hot & Blue Festival, The Ice Rink and Lighting of the Doves, among others. He was a founding member of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival which is now ranked in the Top 10 of all arts festivals in the country. His marketing programs have won numerous awards from the International Festivals & Events Association, International Economic Development Council and several state-wide organizations. Nick has successfully positions public relations articles on The Woodlands in media outlets such as USA Today, Travel + Leisure, Southern Living Magazine, Corporate & Incentive Travel, Golf Digest, Zagat’s and numerous radio and television programs.
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Mr. Wolda began his career as a writer for The Lufkin Daily News and the Houston Chronicle. In his 29 years of marketing, Nick has provided sales, marketing, public relations and advertising guidance to a variety of corporations, companies, state associations and governmental entities.
Visit The Woodlands and Township Responsibilities
As President of Visit The Woodlands, Nick focuses on the promotion and marketing of over 11 million square feet of hospitality, shopping, dining and entertainment in The Woodlands and oversees communication to The Woodlands residential and business community. Each year, The Woodlands has over 820,000 hotel rooms available in its high quality 14 hotels.
Visit The Woodlands is a 501 (c) (6) organization dedicated to promoting The Woodlands as a premier regional destination for conventions, corporate meetings, shopping, dining, entertainment and a place to conduct business. The Bureau facilitates inquiries from leisure travelers, group businesses, meeting planners and corporations looking for a special place to host meetings, conventions, conferences or just to visit.
Positions in the Visit The Woodlands include Assistant Director, Brand Development Manager and Brand Development Specialist, Convention Sales Manager and Convention Sales Specialist, Administrative Assistant and Intern.
In the role of Director of Community Relations, Nick is responsible for the marketing, communications, advertising, public relations and social media of The Woodlands Township. The Woodlands Township is a 28,000-acre residential and commercial development created in 1974 and located about 30 miles north of Houston, featuring over 200 miles of hike and bike paths, 125+ parks, a full service fire department and millions of square feet of office space with major world-wide corporations. It is governed by The Woodlands Township, a special purpose district.
The Woodlands Township has numerous marketing and public relations tools including The Woodlands Community Magazine, which is mailed to 40,000+ homes, The Woodlands Township’s website and numerous other communication programs.
Positions in Community Relations include Manager of Community Relations, Community Relations Specialists, Social Media Specialist and Administrative Assistant.
Elizabeth Eddins Assistant Director
Elizabeth works to identify new opportunities for Visit The Woodlands in addition to assisting with the development of programs and leading daily operations. She implements action plans to encourage visitors, both individual and group, to visit The Woodlands and utilize its accommodations, restaurants, retail shopping, attractions and convention facilities.
Elizabeth Eddins served as the Director of Tourism for the Beaumont Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for the past 10 years. During this time, Elizabeth led Beaumont’s development of Cattail Marsh, the city’s 900 acre water reclamation center, establishing it as a premiere birding and nature destination. She has also successfully led the Beaumont Destination Training, a local awareness and lead generating tour that has turned over 3800 locals into “Beaulievers.” Elizabeth’s destination training and tour has been used as a model for tourism professionals across the state of Texas and beyond.
Elizabeth currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureau (TACVB), as well as being a board member for the Texas Forest Trail Region. In 2014, Eddins was presented the Rising Star Award by the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA). The Rising Star Award is presented to a young professional in the Texas travel & tourism industry who is recognized for their accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to the industry and TTIA. As Rising Star, she held an honorary position on the TTIA board and served as the Young Professional Committee chairman.
Ashley White Marketing Director
Ashley leads the marketing department to promote The Woodlands as a premier destination for meetings and leisure travel. She oversees marketing and public relations efforts for Visit The Woodlands. This includes advertising, brand development, integrated marketing campaigns, media relations and online initiatives.
Mrs. White was formerly the Digital Communications Manager for the Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau, a position she held for 10 years. During that time, she led the organization’s digital and social strategies as well as developed and managed content for the Insider’s Guide, a blog for visitors to the area. She was also responsible for email marketing, partner communications and database management.
She is a graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. Mrs. White holds certifications as a Texas Destination Marketer from the Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (TACVB) and as a Certified Tourism Executive from the Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA). She is a member of both organizations as well as the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Mrs. White is known as leader in the tourism industry and was appointed to the Simpleview CMS User Group Advisory Board for two years. She continues to share her knowledge with peers, often speaking at conferences including TACVB, TTIA and Simpleview.
Josie Lewis Convention Development Manager
Convention Development Manager
Josie Lewis serves as the Convention Development Manager for Visit The Woodlands. Visit The Woodlands is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to position The Woodlands as a regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized tourist destination by developing quality marketing programs and events to attract visitors and stimulate economic development and growth.
As Convention Development Manager, Mrs. Lewis promotes The Woodlands to businesses, associations, and various groups for meetings and events in The Woodlands. She also assists with the coordination of meeting details and services before, during and after a meeting or convention while acting as a lead contact for both the meeting planner and the local hotels.
Josie graduated from The Hilton School of Hospitality Management within The University of Houston with her Bachelor’s degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management. Josie started her career in front office operations within the Downtown Houston market and most recently gained experience in hotel sales at The JW Downtown Houston.
When she’s not in the office, Josie enjoys searching for the perfect cup of coffee at any and all local coffee shops. She also loves movie nights with her family and attempting fun new recipes.
Amber George Marketing Specialist
Amber is responsible for digital communications and content creation for Visit The Woodlands. This includes developing and managing content for the Visit The Woodlands website and social media platforms along with coordinating video production and email marketing efforts.
Prior to joining Visit The Woodlands, Amber worked for The Woodlands Township for nearly six years. During her time with the Township, Amber held several roles including working within the Community Relations department where she served as the Editorial Assistant for The Woodlands Community Magazine and assisted with managing The Township’s website.
During Amber’s free time, she enjoys creating memories with her son, crafting, cooking and reading.
Mariana Almanza Sales and Servicing Specialist
Sales and Servicing Specialist
Mariana works closely with Josie Lewis, Convention Development Manager, to promote The Woodlands to businesses, associations, and various groups for meetings and events in The Woodlands. She will also act as a lead contact for meeting planners and local hotels, work within our Customer Relationship Management program and assist with Visit The Woodlands’ Convention Development Program.
Mariana earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing at Texas A&M University and UTSA. Her prior hospitality work experience was in front office operations at Hilton Hotel properties, and most recently she served as the Sales and Marketing Intern for Visit The Woodlands.
When she’s not in the office, Mariana is likely on vacation. She channels her inner Samantha Brown by enjoying brewery tours, resort lazy rivers, and cruising around on a bike. She also loves Netflix binging with her husband and sharing a bottle of wine with friends.
Sonia Guerrero Sr. Administrative Assistant

Visit The Woodlands is happy to welcome Sonia Guerrero as Sr. Administrative Assistant. Sonia will work closely with Nick Wolda, President of Visit the Woodlands. Originally, from El Paso, Sonia is fluent in English and Spanish and has an Associate’s Degree in Business. She brings to the team an extensive knowledge of accounting, administration, and marketing after having worked for two private companies for 4 years and with the City of Wichita Falls for 2 years. She gained great experience being editor of the City of Wichita Falls Newsletter and as a regular host of “That City Show”.
Sonia moved to the Woodlands in 2017 with her husband and two wonderful girls. She enjoys kayaking in Lake Woodlands and long walks with her family.
Sales & Marketing Intern
The Sales and Marketing Intern works directly with the team to support the mission of Visit The Woodlands to increase overnight hotel stays in The Woodlands.
They help with service requests and lead fulfillment while also coordinating volunteers through the Visitor Services program.
