Each May, the tourism industry comes together to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week. As the Official Destination Marketing Organization of The Woodlands, Visit The Woodlands takes the lead in highlighting the incredible efforts of our local tourism and hospitality community and by spreading awareness of the importance of travel to our local and regional economy.

Travel-supported jobs are not only present in the leisure and hospitality industries, tourism affects numerous sectors including, transportation, finance, real estate, insurance, and more. Travel and tourism are critical components of the Texas economy!
- $439 million of direct spending by visitors to The Woodlands
- 4,200 people are employed by the travel & tourism industry in The Woodlands
- $214.6 million in earnings of employees and owners of businesses in the travel & tourism industry in The Woodlands
- $39.1 million in tax revenue for The Woodlands

ABOUT NTTW
National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) was created by Congress in 1983 to elevate the economic power of travel in the U.S. While NTTW has historically been celebrated during the first full week of May, this year’s NTTW dates were shifted due to a conflict with U.S. Travel’s IPW.
